1. Is the holder of private car driving licence entitled to drive a 7-seat vehicle?
Holder of valid private car driving licence (Vehicle classification code # 1) is entitled to drive a 7-seat vehicle (including driver).
-
2. What is the difference between a private car licence and a light goods vehicle licence?
The main difference between a private car licence and light goods vehicle licence is as follow:
For Private Car (Code # 1)
The test vehicle should be above 800c.c. engine capacity
The test vehicle should be equipped with a 4 forward gear and 1 reverse gear (min.) for manual transmission.
Entitled to drive a 7-seat vehicle (including driver)
For Light Goods Vehicle (Code # 2)
It should be a vehicle licensed as a light goods vehicle.
It should have a permitted gross vehicle weight of not over 5.5 tonnes
For testing vehicle, it should have a permitted gross vehicle weight of not less than 2.7 tonnes

3. What are the differences in riding skills between a manual motorcycle and automatic motorcycle?
The major differences between a manual motorcycle and automatic motorcycle are listed as follows:
For Braking
Manual - Use four fingers of right hand to apply front brake lever and use right foot to apply rear brake pedal.
Auto – Use four fingers of right hand to apply front brake lever and use four fingers of left hand to apply rear brake lever
For changing gears
Manual – Use left hand to grip the clutch lever fully and shift up/down gears by left foot.
Auto – No gear changing is required
For riding posture
Manual – Clamp the fuel tank lightly by both knees, point the toe forward and place the arch and the heel firmly on the step.
Auto – Keep both knees inward and place the feet a little bit forward on the floor.
Specification on most models
Manual – Most models are powered by a centre-positioned engine and driven by chain or shaft; the diameter of wheel rim is 16 inches to 21 inches.
Auto – Most models are powered by a left-positioned engine and driven by CVT (Constant Variable transmissions), the diameter of wheel rim is 10 inches to 15 inches.
Apart from the above differences, their riding performance is varied. But basically they have the same
characteristics: an inner-combustion engine and a rear wheel drive two- wheeler.
Our manual motorcycle-training course has covered all fundamental riding skill, which is designed to provide you with a comprehensive education in safe riding.
A motorcycle licence holder for manual transmission is entitled to operate an auto transmission motorcycle.

4. What are the differences between the “P” and “N” gear of an automatic transmission?
Fully applying the handbrake whenever your vehicle is stationary is even more important on an “automatic”. If the selector lever is in any position other than P or N, it will move off under power if the accelerator is pressed – (no matter accidentally or on purpose) – unless the brakes are on.
Therefore, when you have stopped the vehicle before a traffic light (Red), it is recommended to move the gear lever into the N position and secure the vehicle by fully applying handbrake, unless you have presumed the traffic light will be changed within a very short period of time.
Furthermore, it is also essential to move the gear lever into the N position from D position before the commencement of 3-point turn, it based on the safety rules and enable a complete manoeuvring cycle for 3-point turn.

5. What is double clutching?
“Double clutching” means depressing the clutch pedal twice in the process of moving from one gear to another. Shifting gears by double clutching requires practice.
Using this technique to shift to a higher gear is called upshifting. Upshifting is used when you want to go faster.
Shifting to a lower gear by double clutching is called downshifting. This technique is used as you slow down. Upshifting and downshifting are performed slightly differently.
To upshift, follow these steps:
Release the accelerator pedal; depress the clutch and shift to neutral at the same time.
Release the clutch.
Let the engine and gears slow to the r.p.m. needed for the next higher gear.
Depress the clutch and shift to a higher gear at the same time.
Release the clutch and depress the accelerator at the same time.
To downshift, follow these steps:
Release the accelerator pedal; depress the clutch and shift to neutral at the same time.
Release the clutch.
Depress the accelerator to increase the engine speed to the r.p.m. needed in the lower gear. (Heavy amount of accelerator should be depressed in case of greater speed differentiation would be occurred. E.g. steep down hill.
Depress the clutch and shift to a lower gear at the same time.
Release the clutch while maintaining constant pressure on the accelerator.
As there are still some heavy vehicles with manual transmissions do not have synchomesh gears so it is essential that you become skilled at double clutching when driving a heavy vehicle.
Note: It may be difficult to shift to the next gear when the transmission is left in neutral too long. If this happen, do not try to force the shift. Instead, shift back to neutral, release the clutch and increase engine speed to match with the road speed. Then, try it again.

6. What are the sequences of action when approaching a junction?
Traffic junctions are places where traffic meets. When approaching a junction, be guided by any lane indication arrows on the road marking or any traffic signs.
Think about which route you want to take and get into the appropriate lane. You must follow the direction given by the lane indication arrows for the lane in which you are driving. Do not change lanes suddenly or at the last moment.
On your approach, reduce your speed sufficiently so as to be able to take evasive actions or stop if necessary. Watch out as well for vehicles following behind.
Here is the sequence of action for your reference while approach junction:
check mirror(s)
signal left / right
select proper lane
take up good lane position
adjust speed (by means of accelerator, brake, gears)
look right, centre and left (repeat if necessary)
stop if necessary (as dictated by traffic signs, road markings, traffic conditions)
proceed and turn left / right
mind the turning position
shoulder check left (for LGV check mirrors as well)
check mirror(s)
accelerate out of turn (if safe)
resume correct road position after turn
cancel signal (if signal is still on)地點。
