According to the Transport Department, if either typhoon signal no. 8 or above is hoisted or black rainstorm warning signal is issued, driving tests of all vehicle classes (including written test and road test) will be rescheduled. If such signals are still hoisted at 7:00 a.m., all driving tests scheduled before 1:00p.m. will be cancelled. If such signals are still hoisted at 11:30a.m., all driving test in the afternoon session will also be cancelled. Candidates who are scheduled to take driving test do not have to report to the test center in person. Affected candidates would be approached and notified by our staff of the new appointment arranged.

If the black rainstorm warning signal is issued during service hours (i.e. 8:30a.m. – 5p.m.), all driving tests will be suspended. If the black rainstorm warning signal is lowered during service hours, the driving test service will resume, depending on the on-road traffic conditions (not applicable to road test of motorcycles).

For road test of motorcycles, once either typhoon signal no. 8 or above is hoisted or black/red/amber rainstorm warning signal is issued, even if such signals are lowered later on the day, in case candidates are unable to report to the test center in person due to weather condition, they would be approached and notified by our staff of the new appointment arranged.

The Transport Department today (September 8) announced that having regard to the Government’s announcement about “extreme conditions” owing to torrential rain which will continue at least until noon, the public services under the department, i.e. the Licensing Offices at Admiralty, Cheung Sha Wan, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin, the Public Vehicles Unit, the Cross Boundary Unit, the Vehicle Examination Centres, the Driving Test Appointment Office, the Driving Test Centres and Written Test Centre, will be suspended.

Candidates scheduled for driving test (including road test and written test) today will be individually informed of the alternative arrangements.

Vehicle examinations scheduled today will be cancelled. Members of public who have made an appointment for vehicle examination services can make a new appointment after the vehicle examination centres reopen.

Besides, for applicants who have made an appointment for driving licence related services, renewal of vehicle licence, transfer of vehicle ownership, application for a duplicate vehicle registration document/duplicate vehicle licence, an international driving permit, retention, transfer or assignment of vehicle registration mark, at any timeslot under the extreme conditions or within two hours after the conditions cease to exist, they may proceed to the Licensing Offices to submit their applications during opening hours (from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday) on or before September 15 without the need to make another appointment.

According to the press release of Transport Department (TD) on 29/3/2022, the TD will resume driving test services (road test) for all vehicle types from April 19. Candidates who have been scheduled to take a road test concerned on or after April 19 should attend the test according to the test date, time and driving test centre specified in the driving test appointment letter. In addition, the driving test (Part A written test) and the taxi written test services will be resumed from May 6. 

Candidates affected by the suspension of the driving test services (road test and written test) will be notified individually of their rescheduled test dates.

The driving test appointment services will be resumed from May 6.

February 8, 2022 : MEG Shop ( Yuen Long Plaza) resume to normal Business Hours.

In response to the government’s quarantine arrangement and thorough disinfection at Yuen Long Plaza, MEG Shop in Yuen Long Plaza is temporarily closed and may return to normal after February 8, depending on the progress of the cleaning and disinfection work in the Plaza. The Government announced on Feb 22, 2021 that starting from March 1, members of the public will be required to use the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app before entering government buildings or offices.

To allow members of the public to familiarise themselves with the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app, from February 22 onwards, the Driving Service Section (“DSS”) will first remind members of the public to use the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile app at the entrances of DSS office building and all driving test centres.

Starting from March 1, members of the public will be required to scan the “LeaveHomeSafe” QR code or register their names, contact numbers and the date and time of their visits before entering DSS office building or driving test centres for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed COVID-19 case is found. To fight the epidemic together, we appeal for visitors’ co-operation with the instructions given by the staff on site.

The Transport Department announces on February 19, 2021, the driving test (Part A written test), the taxi written test services and the driving test appointment services will resume from March 15.

The Transport Department announces on January 27, 2021 that they will first resume the motorcycle driving test, including Part B (competence test) and Part C (road test), from February 1.

Other driving test services (including road tests of private cars, light goods vehicles and commercial vehicles, the written test (Part A) and the taxi written test) and driving test appointment services will continue to be suspended until further notice.

The Transport Department announces on December 1 that all driving tests services (including road tests, written test (Part A) and taxi written test) originally scheduled for the period from December 2 to December 15 will be suspended until further notice. We will notify the affected candidates individually of the rescheduled test date after resumption of the driving test services. To strengthen epidemic preventive measures and reduce the risk of epidemic spreading, the following classes will be suspended from December 2 to December 15, which include: Orientation Classes and Lectures. The other driving lessons will be held as scheduled.

The Hong Kong Observatory has announced No. 8 Gale or Storm Signal.

According to the Transport Department, if either typhoon signal no. 8 or above is hoisted or black rainstorm warning signal is issued, driving tests of all vehicle classes (including written test and road test) will be rescheduled. If such signals are still hoisted at 7:00 a.m., all driving tests scheduled before 1:00p.m. will be cancelled. If such signals are still hoisted at 11:30a.m., all driving test in the afternoon session will also be cancelled. Candidates who are scheduled to take driving test do not have to report to the test center in person. Affected candidates would be approached and notified by our staff of the new appointment arranged.

If the black rainstorm warning signal is issued during service hours (i.e. 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.), all driving tests will be suspended. If the black rainstorm warning signal is lowered during service hours, the driving test service will resume, depending on the on-road traffic conditions (not applicable to road test of motorcycles).

For road test of motorcycles, once either typhoon signal no. 8 or above is hoisted or black/red/amber rainstorm warning signal is issued, even if such signals are lowered later on the day, in case candidates are unable to report to the test center in person due to weather condition, they would be approached and notified by our staff of the new appointment arranged.

To align with the Government’s announcement to fully resume normal public services subject to the implementation of targeted measures to reduce social contact and the application of infection control measures, the Transport Department (TD) said today (September 11) that the Driving test (Part A written test) and the taxi written test will resume from September 14; Walk-in counter services for licensing services will resume from September 15; Driving Test appointment services will resume from September 21.

MEG Shop (Yuen Long) will provide limited service during the renovation period from 07 to 09 Sept 2020. Sorry for any convenience caused.

To align with the gradual resumption of the provision of basic public services by the Government, the Transport Department (TD) said on August 27 that the driving test (road test) services (for Motor cycle, Private Car, Light Goods Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle) will fully resume from September 7. Driving test (written test Part A) and taxi written test services are planned to resume on September 14. On 20 August, the Transport Department has announced that they will first resume the motor cycle driving test, including Part B (competence test) and Part C (road test) from August 31. For details, please refer to the Transport Department press release: https://bit.ly/3aIualn.

All the lessons, including Lectures, Orientation Class, Pre-In Car Training & Practical Lessons will be resumed effecting from 31 August 2020. Taxi classes will remain suspended until further notice.

To align with the announcement by the Government to resume public services in a safe and orderly manner, the Transport Department (TD) said on August 20 that, after having considered the ways of conducting driving test for different classes of motor vehicles, the TD will first resume the motor cycle driving test, including Part B (competence test) and Part C (road test), from August 31.

Other driving test services (including road tests of private car, light goods vehicle and commercial vehicles, written test (Part A) and taxi written test) will continue to be suspended until further notice.

With the launch of the new Road User Code (RUC) (June 2020 Edition), the content of the written test will be updated with effect from 28 September 2020. Due to unforeseen circumstances, classes and lectures scheduled from 2:30pm thereafter today (24May) at Causeway Bay Training Centre have been cancelled.

The Transport Department announced today (May 22) that driving test appointment services for fresh candidates and repeaters will resume on May 25. The Transport Department has announced that road test for driving examination will be resumed on 4 May. Latest Test and Training arrangements of Hong Kong Island Road Safety Centre

All Driving Tests and Driving Trainings at Hong Kong Island Road Safety Centre resumes normal from today (27 Sep) onwards.

【19 Sep Latest Update on All Road Safety Centre Driving Test and Training Arrangements】

【Hong Kong Island Road Safety Centre – Driving Test and Training Arrangements on 18 & 19 Sep】

18-Sep (Tue): All Driving Trainings, including Motorcycle On-road Trainings will resume normal (except Motorcycle Mandatory Course Trainings).
19-Sep (Wed): All Driving Tests and Driving Trainings, including Motorcycle On-road Trainings will resume normal (except Motorcycle Mandatory Course Trainings).

Special Arrangements on 17 Sep 2018 (Mon)

– All Driving Tests and Driving Trainings at Hong Kong Island Road Safety Centre will be cancelled.

– All Driving Tests and Driving Trainings in the morning session at Yuen Long Road Safety Centre will be cancelled. For the afternoon sessions, please pay attention to our announcement before noon.

– All Driving Tests and Driving Trainings at Shatin Road Safety Centre will remain unchanged.

We will keep you updated on latest news. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Driving Test Arrangement under Bad Weather

If either typhoon signal no. 8 or above is hoisted or black rainstorm warning signal is issued, driving tests of all vehicle classes (including written test and road test) will be rescheduled. 

If such signals are still hoisted at 7:00 a.m., all driving tests scheduled before 1:00p.m. will be cancelled.If such signals are still hoisted at 11:30a.m., all driving test in the afternoon session will also be cancelled. Candidates who are scheduled to take driving test do not have to report to the test center in person. Affected candidates would be approached and notified by our staff of the new appointment arranged.

Candidates should pay attention to the announcements on radio and television for the latest arrangements. For candidates (whose driving test was cancelled) do not receive the new appointment 2 weeks after the original test date, please contact our staff at 2771 7723. 　　 

HKSM : With effective from 27 August 2018, a revamped Ngan Shing Driving Test Route will be put into effect.
